Who we are
God has called us to carry the Good News of our Savior to our neighbors in Stockdale, TX and around the world. To fulfill this mission, we work together with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Gambrell Association, and the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
Where we come from
First Baptist Church Stockdale was organized in 1874 in a picket building. They met there or in a mill house or schoolhouse for years. The Rev. L. S. Cox was the first pastor. In 1885, Under pastor E. N. Norwood, the congregation built its first church building. In 1886 that building was damaged in a storm and services began to be held in a cotton warehouse while the building was being rebuilt. The current church building was built in 1953 and the pastor's house now sits on the site of the original building. From the beginning until now, we have been dedicated to serving and welcoming everyone into our doors, telling them about the love of Jesus Christ.
Where we're headed
What's the bottom line? We at First Baptist Church Stockdale are dedicated to fostering a church family whose sole purpose is to bring glory to Christ and to grow that family by telling others about the name of Jesus.
Our mission is simple:
Love God & others, Grow as Christ followers, Serve where He leads, & Go into all the world.
We are a community church with a Kingdom mission and we invite you to join us on this mission.
